Nomination for the performance of the year: Kordell Stewart, week 6 vs
Baltimore: 31 points and Wallace needed everyone of them. Ricker put on a
spirited challenge. Gary Brown ran wild and scored his first touchdown
since 1994. Antonio Freeman held onto the ball for two scores and the Green
Bay D brought one back. Elway scored on a short run and heaved a bomb to
Rod Smith who got tackled on the one. So close...and then there was the
aforementioned kicker boner.

How the mighty have fallen. Best lit up the league the first three weeks,
and has now lost the last three weeks. He still leads the league in scoring
and has the top QB, receiver and kicker. Barry scored virtually all his
points in the second quarters of the Sunday 1:00 games. Ricky Watters, who
personally likes to burn bridges, treated one of his former owners roughly
with two TDs.

At last, a nice weekend in the Jackson household. Calvin won. Will and Joy
found their Daddy in a good mood for the first time since week 1. Will(ie)
Jackson even caught a one of the three TD passes from Calvin's Jacksonville QB.
Terry Allen, and Eddie George crossed the goal line for the first time in weeks
and Dorsey Levens chipped in his usual bonus point.
Gates, aka the Lion King, got limited production from his Detroit trio, and
dropped his second straight game.

Another good game for Talbot, who has averaged 50 points a game since his
week 2 loss to Mosakowski. The loss to MOS continues to loom large as Talbot
remains in second due to that tiebreaker. Talbot got his usual score from
Mike Alstott and continued to start receivers who score. However, the hallmark
of all Talbot teams has been the strong QB: The Vikings and Brad
Johnson have exceeded all expectations.
Peil had one of those games that sometimes befall those who start of
lots of receivers: their scoring is somewhat random. Some weeks they all
score and some weeks none of them score. Those that starting three running backs
argue that they are more consistant. Peil, who treates backs like kickers.
has one of the most consistent, Raymont Harris, and he has scored in 4 of the 6
games this year.

This is the path to glory. Win as many ugly ones as you can. Stroupe in '90.
Best in '94. It is not your fault that your opponent can't score his way out
of a paper bag. Why waste points here. Save them for the shoot outs. 5 and 1
is 5 and 1.

Nothing gratifies JK more than a victory over hated Stroupe. Stroupe used
to beat them like a drum, time after time, but JK has evened things in
recent years (3 of 4 since 1994). However, there might have been a few
nervous moments Monday night...particularly when Terrell Davis was dragged down
on what might have been an 80 yard TD run.

Czupryna's beloved New England Patriots didn't help him Monday night. Curtis
Martin, Ben Coates and NE D failed to score, but Deitrich's Adam Vinatieri
did. Like Wallace, BUD but had a big game from his QB, working the other
side of the PIT/BAL shootout. And like Wallace, BUD had to hold off his
opponent on Monday night. However, unlike Wallace, BUD didn't score in the
40's allowing Wallace to edge him out for third place.
