"13" was a lucky number for JK this week as three players scored that much.
Ricker saw his fortunes flip flop from last week's win. Where as his backfield
and defense scored last week, his receivers had their day this week. If he
can put both together, he will be dangerous in week 14.
If JK wins this weekend versus Mosakowski, they will clinch first place.
That win, coupled with a previous win over Deitrich will given them
tie breakers over BUD and MOS, the only other teams that can claim first.

With this win, Stroupe is in a money slot because
he owns a tiebreaker over fourth place Talbot, Stroupe is in a three way tie with
him and Gates. Talbot and Gates play in week 12. Stroupe comes up short in
the tie breaker department: Four of his losses are to JK, MOS, BUD and GTS:
teams with the same or better record than him. It might be a struggle to
land a slot.
Tiebreakers are also unkind to Outlaw. Amoung the four 4-7 teams, Outlaw
goes out the loser as head to head tiebreakers can be applied. In the four
way scenario, Wallace and Ricker are 2-1, Barry and Outlaw are 1-2. Then
head to head are applied and Outlaw loses to Barry.

On paper, Peil should have pounded Jackson. With Oakland playing at home
versus the hapless Saints, you would figure...but to quote Chris Berman, "that
is why they play the game". DP's Raider trio was shut down. So the "king of
shootout" lost a stinker.
With previous losses to CZ and BST, Jackson needed this win to get some
sort of tiebreaker among the teams with a 5-6 record. However, points are
dragging Jackson down as well. So while the win was significant, the 21
point showing was not.
16 MOS: TWheatley 1, AMurrell 6, RDudley 1, Sea D 8
11 GTS: BSanders 8, EMurray 3
Yawn. These two teams have been stuck in the teens. Gates has scored in the
teens three straight weeks and Mos 2. Not a good sign if MOS wants to
reclaim first from JK next week.
6-5 Gates has a tiebreaker over Stroupe and plays Talbot this week. If
he aspires for third, he needs to win out and see BUD drop both his games.
A previouly mentioned, MOS plays for first place this week. However, unlike
his opponent JK, a win does not clinch first unless BUD loses in week 12. Mos
would then have to beat BUD in week 13 to claim first.

CZ went off on Wallace this week. At 4:00, the points were coming
fast and furious: Warren Moon, NE D, Curtis Martin and Antowan Smith were all
crossing the goal line. had Wallace been watching during his dinner, he would
have had a hard time keeping it down. It was his fifth consecutive loss and
that in itself is hard to stomach. That streak matches his career longest in
1993. Like 1993, the streak has run from weeks 7-11. 1993 was the year of
another streak for Wallace, a four game winning streak that began in week 14.
and we all know where that led...

You don't get much luckier than this: From time to time a defensive score
has won a game on Monday night. But TWO defensive scores? While facing your
opponent's WR and kicker? That's exactly what happened to Best. SF D returned
a fumble and a punt to lead Best from 26-29 down to a 42-35 win.
You don't get much UNluckier then this: Not only did Talbot suffer Best's
two scores, his WR, Terrel Owens, was downed at the "1 inch" line and Gary
Anderson, his kicker, missed a chip shot FG. Those 9 points would have
won the game.
It has been a long time since Best had a come from behind Monday night win. Perhaps
since the '88 playoffs vs CZ. He has seen a sure thing QBs and kickers and
countless players fail him. So this luck was overdue...
32 BUD: TMartin 14, JBettis 6, AVinateri 7, DAL D 4
20 BAR: KAbdul-Jabbar 13, KC d 1, OMare 6
No QBS figuredd in this game as both BAL and CAR were shutout.
Although it did not affect the game, a situation where a box score can be
misleading occurred. Bud has originally given Barry credit for a
defensive funble recovery TD. However on closer inspection, it was revealed
that it was an offensive fumble recovery. KC's Danan Hughes recovered a
fumble for a TD after it was fumbled following an interception. Since
Hughes is an offensive player, it was disallowed. The play had to occur in
a defensive or special team sitations. In the old days, this would have been
a classic controversial situation. No highlight of the play was seen.
The box score did not elaborate on the set up. One could argue that perhaps
this play occurred on special teams. However, the internet has made available
many resources that allow us to know the exact nature of the play. It can
be conclusively determined that Hughes was on offense at the beginning of the
play and therefore, it can't count as a D/ST score.
Although he had been slammed as "Bud Light" for his lackluster play this year,
Deitrich has a chance to finish first. If Mos defeats JK in week 12 and if BUD
beat Ricker in week 12 and MOS in week 13 and JK loses to Peil in week 13,
BUD is the regular season champion. Bud Light, huh?
