Ron Hale is the forgotten man this BRFL season and last season as well.
Most people remember him as the guy that shows up to help Barry Mosakowski
draft. Most of the day to day dealings with Moskowaski is done with Barry.
We this weekend, Barry was out of town and Ron was left to chose the lineup for
the game with Jones/Klingman. Barry had considered benching unproductive
WR Michael Jackson. Ron started him and he scored. Since week 4, Barry had started
Baltimore's Matt Stover over Seattle kicker Todd Peterson. Ron started
Peterson. Peterson out scored Stover 5-4, and Mos outscored JK 34-33. So, give
Hale his props, and savor the irony of Jk getting beat out of first place
because some started the right kicker.
But for JK to fail, it was more than Mos' kicker call. Five or Six years
from now, when Marcus Allen is inducted in the Hall of Fame, Jones or
Klingman, whoever made out this week's line-up, might feel a twinge of
disappointment. Marcus, normally a regular starter, was left on the bench
this week. He scored twice. It is the kind of the over-management of line-ups
that crops up in big games: Moon/Jeffires in 90, Elam in 94. Our own "Hall
of Fame" ... Splinter Squad.
Maybe we are not so smart after all. "Touchdown Tommy" Vardell finally lived
up to his nickname with three scores and Harvey Williams scored four. Both
Vardell and Williams were cut from BRFL rosters and have been languishing in the
free agent pool for weeks.

Choking...a theme with JK this week. Bam Morris is arrested for choking a
woman and loses his starting job.

This mosh-pit of a game was tight until Best's much maligned Cowboys rallied
for 11 late points and gave him what he thought was a comfortable lead until
Jeff George and James Jett dived in and elbowed their way to the win.

This game is not official, but even if Zellars and Mckight were not started,
Outlaw should have an easy win.
41 CJ JAX Q 6, TAllen 6, DLevens 21, JHanson 8
27 BAR KC Q 6, KAJ 7, OMare 12 PHL D 2
For a time Sunday, it looked like Dorsey Levens was set to have every TD
scored. He gave Jackson and early win and breathing room against struggling
Barry.

Wallace stopped a five game slide and Stroupe ended a five game win streak.
Wallace seems to be improving with Natrone Means and Robert Smith back from
injuries.

Deitrich blew a golden opportunity to position him self for first place
when he was blown away by Ricker. Baltimore has noticably cooled off and now
on again, off again running back Lawrence Phillips has mooded himself
out of the starting lineup for the rest of the year.

21 GTS Det Q 12, BSanders 1, NKauffman 1, JMorton 6, EMurray 1, BAL D 1
Gates realized, if he hadn't already, the Napolean Kauffman and Barry
Sanders are not goal line backs. Tommy Vardell and Harvey Williams had a
combined 7 TDs that might have gone Gates' way. Gates, the master of the
long TD, was burned mostly on short ones this week.
