Talbot is ridden out of the playoffs on a rail. I've been wanting to say
that for years, but Talbot doesn't lose in week 14. Neither does Barry.
He's a perfect 3-0 in week 14. He has even won twice as a 14 seed.
There was nothing Talbot could do. He even changed his line-up, promoting
Darnay Scott over Marshall Faulk. Those of you who had Talbot in your
office pool. Oops.
If Talbot was ridden out on a rail, it was a Kansas City bound train.
Barry's lineup roared like a locomotive Sunday afternoon. Talbot, who has
come back from huge deficits before on week 14, probably got through
Sunday saying "I think I can, I think I can". However, "Engineer Ed"
McCaffery derailed those hopes Sunday night. So Barry, the "Caboose" of
the league faces MOS in week 15.

Enough train analogies, let's switch to a different mode of transportation.
Like Talbot,
Best had 42 points, made a line-up change that payed off and got hit by a
bus. Deitrich's Jerome Bettis scored 20 points including a TD in overtime -
the second time he has done that this year - to subdue Best. Bud had looked
week in last few games and looked like an erly playoff causalty. However,
he made a key move in picking up Jerald Moore and now has the hottest QB
property rideing his bench with Philly's Bobby Hoying.

Stroupe was red hot going into the playoffs, but now, like his QB Gus
Ferrotte, must be "banging his head into the wall"; his BRFL season
"fractured" by Ricker. Had he been able to continue this week, Stroupe,
who treats injury reports like they are horoscopes, would have been in
serious trouble without starters Ferrotte, Hearst and Glenn. To paraphase
Keyshawn Johnson: "Just give me the damn bill!"
Ricker learns from his mistakes from week 13, pumping up his Denver Duo
to over take Stroupe's. But
pity poor Ricker: Why he certainly has a chance to beat JK, is he prepared
to deal with his insults? "Slug Boy", as JK calls him, hopes that Favre
can only find Freeman.

Before the button popped on the Butterball, Outlaw's season came to an
end. Gates was heaping on the points faster than Outlaw could
heap food on his Thanksgiving plate... that is if he still had an appetite.
Gates stuffed him with 40 quick points, and the rest...was gravy.
The Lion King finds himself in a rare situation...Week 15! Can he put it
together against suddenly resurgent Bud, or will he slink back into the teens.

This game would have made for one
of the more interesting and
ironic story lines had not Robert Brooks scored in
Monday nights game. Brooks' TD gave Peil a 18 point cushion that CJ's
Dorsey Levens, who scored 13 late, could not overcome. Had Jackson won, he
could have pointed to one play where a Miami defender tipped away a
sure TD from Peil's Oakland QB. That defender's name was.. Calvin Jackson.
However, there is some ironly to report. For the second straight week
a defense that Jackson cut scored and had he kept them and started them,
he would have won. This week'd discarded D: Calvin Jackson and the
Dolphins.

Just a case of Wallace being Wallace. Nobody makes a playoff pick-up like
he does. In this case it was Steve Broussard, who caught a pass from CZ's QB.
Wallace, who will be in Japan for the remainder of the playoffs might be
converting his winning into yen.
CZ's 18 was the lowest losing score of the playoffs. Two teams had
42 and three teams had 34. However, the big loser of the week was on the
sidelines. Had Mosakowski been playing in week 14 and had he started the
same lineup he started in week 13, he would have scored THREE points.
We can only shake our heads in amazement...
