Another of the most sought titles of the Goldsmith of beginning of the sixties, and solely available previously in its first edition in LP in 1963 (Epic BN26094) or in a bootleg CD of doubtful sound and even more doubtful origin, this new edition with good monoaural sound (a shame!) collect the material issued in the original disk without any additions, including the cover commentaries. Goldsmith makes an extensive use of the well-known spiritual Amen, which is used from the initial cue Main Title, so much as motor of the score as in multiple variations, appearing in a sung version in the cue that carries its name Amen, Sunday Morning, Amen. Harmonic, banjoes and instruments of autochthonous shape give the appropriate color to this score that it was so well received, and that during so much time has been sought by anxiety by the fans. The waiting has ended by being worth the trouble to the avid collector. A.L.
