Here we have the music composed by Newton Howard for the remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic Dial M For Murder (1954) which, under the title of A Perfect Murder tries to plan again, under a different view, a well known and celebrated plot. For Hitchcock's original film, Dimitri Tiomkin had composed a tense score in the same spirit of the story, and in a similar way (although logically very different in matters of style and development) it moves Newton Howard's music; the eleven themes that are included in the disk make use of elements already usual on the music of his author, joining together violent pieces like The Attack with more meditative themes as Can You Ever Forgive Me?. The main problem is the unavoidable dependency from the images that usually have the scores written for thrillers, and it is under this perspective from should be hear this soundtrack, on the other side interesting and with splendid sound.
