Unmistakable; Dave Grusin continues in the path of not to defraud to any of his more fervent followers. And he demonstrates it once again with Selena, a movie that narrates the life of the texan of Hispanic origin artist murdered in the more algid moment of her career. Seventeen cues make the disk, of those which three of them does not are composed by Grusin, Theme from A Summer Place, La Manzana and Como La Flor; with this last one, the American composer yields a small homage to the singer playing at the piano, as only he knows to make it, this song of the own Selena. The rest of the soundtrack turns around a melodic principal theme, very in the customary line of Grusin, that is performed in several cues of the CD. It stands out the cue number three, South Texas Jive Cats, and the fifth one Salinas y los Low Riders, that are a little bit out of the style of the rest of the composition, with a mixture between country and jazz-fusion. The tenth cue, Chris & Selena, it must be mentioned by the mastery which Grusin uses the strings section. In a nutshell, another very worthy work of this brilliant contemporary musical master. I.P.Y.
