James Horner: TITANIC

This American superproduction could not have a little entity composer to put music to its scenes, and James Horner achieves a superb score for this spectacular movie. Almost seventy three minutes of music compose the CD, including the song My Heart Will Go On, performed by Celine Dion with music of the own Horner and lyrics by Will Jennings. The film is, above all, a love history to which there is no lack of intrigue and emotion, masterly written and directed by James Cameron; the soundtrack increases the impact of the images, upgrading the tension, expectancy or the sensibility when is required, and we can differentiate two principal themes within it: the Love Theme, heared on its enterity in Rose, though Horner intercalates it more times in a masterful way, with choirs and even in the most incidental cues; and the Main Theme that we can listen, for example, in Southampton, Leaving Port and Take her to the Sea, Mr.Murdoch, and that shows us the great expectancy, illusion and hopes put in the Titanic. And we don't forgot the action themes (already mentioned before), of great importance in the movie, as The Sinking or Death of Titanic, with more than thirteen rushing minutes of music. A score which follows narrowly Horner's style, with Irish reminiscence notes -as in Braveheart (1995)-, and in general with many references to other scores of this composer, as Glory (1989). Furthermore, it is outlined as one of the most firm candidates to the Hollywood Oscar nominations, included its song, in a soundtrack that together with this spectacular movie corroborate, once again, that the film spectacle continues to have an unquestionable lider: the American Industry.
