Ennio Morricone: STARMAKER

I'm not considering myself as a follower, less a fan, of Ennio Morricone, but neither awakes on me the hates that so many film music lovers have. I like some of his works (Casualties of War, to mention one), and of course this Starmaker is one of them. The tandem Tornatore-Morricone has decided, once more time, for the nostalgia-lyricism as the main hinge of the film-score; Morricone creates a love theme which may be among the best of his extensive career (the cue Beata e Joe, on which the acoustic guitar deliver a feeling of sadness very agree with the fullness of the work), and also is worthy of mention the third cue Voci, one of the longest (up to five minutes), on which is encored a melody whose variation will come at the middle of the cue when is introduced an accordion, which brings a more nostalgic flavour, if possible. The main character theme is played, with shady tones, on Il Furgone, melody which was introduced on the first cue with some carefree notes who confer it with a gay and jolly tone. Another of the italian composer's terrific melodies may be find on Tra le Stelle and on Beata, where the acoustic guitar is the main protagonist in a sweeter way, at the contrary of what happens on Provino on which is used more agressively. As usual on his author, we are in front of a music of wonderful melodic content, on which Morricone does not try to make variations, to the opposite of many composers, but to restrain himself practically to repeate it. But even so the whole is good, and will call the attention to the people whose see the movie. I.P.
