"I have been working on the Wills of the various Peter Buckelews. See if you agree with this.
"Peter Buckelew (your #12) wrote his Will on 13 April 1780 and the Inventory of his estate was taken in 1783, so he died in that year....as you have on your web page.(Will in Mary's People, page 231, #538)
"You have that he had the following children by Abigail, his first wife. Joseph, Isaac, Obadiah and Abraham and a son Peter by his second wife Catherine Bowne whom he married on 20 Aug. 1759. You have this Peter as being deceased on 26 April 1780.
"I believe this is the Peter Buckalew who wrote his Will on 25 January 1775 and was the Peter that you have as being deceased on 26 April 1780. The inventory of his estate was on 4 Feb. 1775. His wife is not listed in the Will, but his children are. He had five children...Hannah, Josiah, Peter, Mary and Abraham. Considering the dates, he was probably the son of Abigail rather than Catherine Bowne. Since he married Catherine in 1759, this Peter would only have been 16 years old when he wrote his Will in 1775. (The reference to this Will is on page 229 in Mary's People #531.)
"The reason I bring this up is because I received an e-mail from a lady who said that she is related to us through the Burlew line and her relative was Peter Buckelew who had a son named Josiah who wrote his name as Josiah Burlew. At first I could not make a connection but then I read on page 234 in Mary's People about the Burlew family. She said 'it's evident at least one Buckelew changed the spelling to Burlew.' I think she may be correct."

And, I DO agree with Doug in that he and his correspondent are probably correct. (My note -- "Les," Lester T. Buckalew.)

1775 (25 Jan) Middlesex Co., NJ, Will: "Peter Buckalew (signed his name) of South Amboy writes his will, being sic and weak in body. (1) His son, Josiah, was to have his young black horse with a white blaze in his face. (2) His son, Peter, was to have his bay colt. (3) His movable estate, except for the horses, was to be sold for payment of his debts, as was his plantation where Abraham Hand "now lives," and the salt meadow he bought from the exec. of George Lesslie, deceased, and the land known and called by the name of Sam Lane's Place. (4) His children, Hannah, Josiah, Peter, Mary & Abraham, were to divide the remainder of his land & salt meadows. If any children should die before 21 years, the deceased's part was to be divided among the surviving children (5) His son-in-law, Jacob Johnson, & son Josiah Buckalew, were appointed executors. Wit: William Morgan, John Morgan & Obadiah Herbert.Ack. by Wm Morgan & Herbert 6 Feb 1775 before John Thomson, Surrogate. At the same time, Jacob Johnson & Josiah Buckalew were qualified as Exec.
