A story on my grandfather- Burley White Bucklew. (This story is as I remember him telling me when I was 10-12 years old so some facts may be off slightly.) He left home at the "advanced" age of 15. He had a second grade education. Several years later he hired on with Firestone Tire Co. They had railroad box-cars that he jumped on with what he could carry to move from WVa to Akron, Ohio. As WW1 was going on he wrote his name on the application as "BUCKLEW" instead of "BUCKALEW".He told me he was afraid of being fired! Hence the name changed.

I would also mention when I was in Salt Lake I looked at some records from official Virginia state census for some past ancestors. The name changed as many times as the records were written as basically many could not read or write. Les has done a fantastic job getting the records together!

> Anyway It makes a good story. Doug Bucklew- Laurinburg NC
