Family of William Thomas Godard (2783) & Martha Missouri Brown

4770. George Delma Godard. Born on 11 December 1869. George Delma died on 19 September 1960; he was 90.

Preached at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church, but whether as supply (substitute) pastor or installed pastor is not clear. He was visiting preacher at a number of churches.

Taught school at Moultrie, GA; later was superintendent there after one or two years near Birmingham, AL. He and his family, now including Mary, seem to have spent as much time as possible at Milner, GA, and at an unknown date, after the 1908 death of his father, were able to move into the family home (burned 1980) and be there with his father's widow, this move being made possible by his being named principal of the Milner schools.

Edited and published the Primitive Baptist newspaper , "The Comforter," at Milner several years.

On 23 December 1894 when George Delma was 25, he married Elizabeth Alice Williams.

They had one child:

4771. Etta Lois Godard. Born on 31 August 1872. Etta Lois died on 10 August 1940; she was 67.

A teacher, who, before her marriage and the advent of publick schools, taught for a fee.

Etta Lois married David Griffin Thomas. Born on 23 August 1870. David Griffin died on 27 February 1928; he was 57.

He and wife wer parents of ten children, three of whom made their mark in field of education. Of two who were lawyers, one was elected Judge of Superior Court and served as judge for years. One was in law enforcement. One was killed in an automobile accident as a young adult.

They had the following children:

Anna Belle married Dr. Y. Rufus Coleman M.D..

4773. Dr. Robert Fain Godard M.D.

Lived in Quincy, FL.

4774. Caroline Elizabeth Godard. Nickname: Carrie.

Caroline Elizabeth married James C. Means.

4775. William Burnam Godard Dr. Born in 1881.

4776. Minnie Amarsia Godard.

4777. Joseph Mitchell Godard.
