"John Joseph Buckelew was born May *, 1875, in Adamsville, Alabama. he lived part of his life in this Community, and the remainder in Union Grove Community where he reared his Family.

"Mr. Buckelew died in Adamsville, Alabama, on September 23, 1945. His funeral was held in Union Grove Methodist Church and his body was buried in the Crumley's Chapel Cemetery. The funeral was conducted by the writer, assisted by Rev. T. S. Johnson, Rev. A. F. Powell and Rev. Hanks. Mr. Buckelew was mason, and they gave their impressive interment Ceremony at the grave.

"Mr. Buckelew married Miss Susan Josephine Newberry on December 23, 1900. For nearly 45 years they lived happily together and at his passing, she kept faithful vigilant by his bedside. The great array of flowers at his funeral attested the love and esteem of relatives and friends. Those who knew him, loved and respected him.

"Mr. Buckelew is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. J. O. Garrison, Mrs. W. E. Godfrey, Mrs. R. H. Beneffield, Mrs. L. W. Ulch, all from Adamsville, and Mrs. C. P. Hollon of Tallahassee, Florida. Also one son, Claude Buckelew of Adamsville, Alabama.

"The Union Grove Methodist Church was his Church. He loved it and for more than 45 years served in it faithfully. He was not a showy man, but was always ready to do his part. His faith in lGod was always strong and his life so true that we feel he has gone on to receive his crown."
