LONG AGO MEMORIES

Sorry, your browser doesn't suppor Java.

Dolls of long ago have all
Been placed upon the shelf
Mirrors in my mind reflect
The changes in myself.

Memories are all that's left
Of shovel-sandbox days
Of party dresses, mud-pie messes
And other childish ways.

Broken crayons, bits and pieces
Used by a first grade artist
Remembering to stay within the lines
Always seemed the hardest.

Boys were creeps who pulled your hair
And called you nasty names
But now they've changed
And insist on playing different games.

No more ribbons, no more bows
No more playhouse doors
Things have changed, nothing seems
The way it was before.

I know that deep inside
A little girl remains
And now I wish there was a way
To bring her back again.
