A tribute to those who fought for our Independence
Oh say, oh say can you see The hearts of the warriors who made us free? From
all walks of life these heroes they came And after their fight, were never the
same.
The Black from the ghetto, the Asian from the quarry, The Mexican
from the field, they all have their story. But there is one single thing that
they all share, For peace in America they love and they care.
Today men
and women stand side by side, On the backs of these people, your freedom rides. "For
what," do you ask, "do they do this great deed?" The pay is so
low, it can not be greed.
I tell you my friend It's out of Honor and Pride, That
these ordinary warriors Live to serve, as many have died.
It is the Army
by land and the Navy by sea, These soldiers and sailors, that keep us so free. The
Air Force and Marines work miraculous tasks, To watch o'er our country, in whose
freedom we bask.
Let us return to that glorious first day, When we said
to our oppressors, "You can not stay!" "It is from God we are given
the freedom to choose, And these divine liberties we shall not lose."
So
what will you do, if you choose not to fight, To protect and defend all that is
right? For tolerance and freedom, you must vote and you should pray… That the
battle for peace and prosperity will never go away.
If you live in America,
it is truly a sin, If in your heart you don't find the warrior within.
