My family at the moment is relatively small; my husband, Rene' and our cat, Thomas. Thomas was the "step-child" I received when I got married. This is a story of true love. To be honest I had always disliked cats very much! However, I loved Rene' and Rene' loved Thomas. So, I welcomed the cat with open arms, literally. This in turn led to a trip to the Emergency Room to discover that I was extremely allergic to Thomas and was doomed to suffer asthma as a result. I am glad to report that after a plethora of doctor visits, an unbelievable medication routine, and at least a thousand boxes of tissue...we still have the cat.

Somewhere in the middle of things, I fell extremely in love with this precious creature. He sleeps by my side everynight, cuddles with me throughout the day, and is no longer disturbed by my sneezes or the noise that my inhalers make. I never knew that a pet could bring such joy and love into one's life. And I will glady put up with all the doctors, medications, and anything else as long as I have to. I am very grateful to my husband for the gift of Thomas (whom I now affectionately refer to as "my baby"), and grateful to Thomas for the happiness and love that he gives to me, and that he lets me give back to him.

Update! April 1998

We have a real baby now, Hailey Elizabeth. Thomas isn't sure what he thinks about her yet, but he seems to be taking the whole thing rather well. :)

In Memory...

I'm sad to announce that our beloved Thomas has passed on to be with God. He lived a very, very long life and left this world on June 16th, 2000. He will be missed by Rene' and me for the rest of our lives.
