UNION CAVE
Union Cave is located in West Virginia. There is only one known entrance to the cave. The historical section of the cave has been known for many years and only contained about 1000 feet of surveyed passage. As of 2001, a dig was completed in the large room at the end of the historical section and opened up the cave for more survey. To enter the new section, you must negotiate tight crawls through a pile of breakdown and work your way down to a very narrow vertical slot. This is the metering hole as to who can go onward. Beyond the slot, a stream canyon is encountered. It leads to a larger passage called Ecstasy, which is one of the main drainages in the cave. Also, along the initial stream passage, a short climbup into another passage leads to the majority of the cave. To date, there are 4.5 miles of surveyed passage and the cave is still going. This cave is closed and the landowner has given special permission to a specific group to complete the survey of the cave. ENJOY THE PHOTOS!
