David James Morrow and Wives: Loucinda Young and Mrs. Margaret Davis
David James Morrow was born on October 5, 1815 in Tennessee and died on June 11, 1882 in Dallas County, MO. About 1839 he married his first wife Lucinda Young in Missouri. She was the mother to all of his children. Lucinda was born October 15, 1821 possibly in Kentucky and died July 1874 in Buffalo, Dallas County., MO. She is believed by many present day researchers to have been part Cherokee.
In the 1860 US Census, Benton Twp., Dallas Co., MO, David is listed as 45 years old, born in Tennessee, living with his wife Lucinda and eight children. In 1870 he lived in the Jasper Twp. In the fall of 1869, David along with other Elders organized the Mount Pleasant Southern Baptist Church. The first church building was erected in 1870 at a cost of $400.00.
The second wife of David James Morrow was Mrs. Margaret A. Montgomery Davis. They were married on March 21, 1875 in Dallas County. Margaret was born September 3, 1830 in Pulaski, MO to William Montgomery and Nancy Ballew. She died June 22, 1898 in Buffalo, Dallas Co. MO, She is buried in the Crudgington Cemetery next to her first husband, William Davis. In the "Early Days in Dallas County" by Elva Murrell Hemphill (pg 954) John J Montgomery a well known farmer of Lincoln Township and was born in Pulaski Co,MO in 1826. He was the son of William and Nancy Ballew, Montgomery natives of NC. William Montgomery was born in 1792 and moved from NC to TN then to Crawford Co MO. They had twelve children five of whom are still living: John J.; Margaret A Morrow [formerly Mrs Margaret Davis] ;Charity Pointer; Thomas JB; and Nancy E Leckie. The following is Margaret Davis Morrow's obituary which was printed in the BUFFALO REFLEX on June 30, 1898:
Buffalo Reflex- 30 June 1898 Margaret A. Morrow, daughter of Wm. and Nancy Montgomery, was born 3 September 1830 in Pulaski Co., MO and fell asleep in Jesus at the home of her son, G.L. Davis one mile north of Buffalo on 22nd June 1898; age 68 yr less 2 mo and 11 days. She was twice married - first to Wm. M. Davis who was killed by lightning 38 years ago in sight of the house where Margaret died. By this union five sons and one daughter was born, all of whom are living; one brother, T.B. Montgomery and one sister, Mrs. E. Leckie. Her second marriage was to Rev. D J Morrow of the Baptist Church who preceded her. One of her sons, J.A. Davis, is the worthy preacher of the M E Church South. She was buried in Crudgington cemetery beside her first husband.
On June 24, 1861, at the age of 46, David James enlisted in the Dallas County, MO Volunteer Home Guards, Company G. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on September 24, 1861. He rendered only 45 days of service. On July 18, 1890, Margaret applied for a Widow’s Pension based on David’s service. Her pension of $8.00 per months was granted on July 25, 1890. Both David and Lucinda are buried in the Macedonia Cemetery in Dallas Co., MO. Their children were:
Sarah Emeline Morrow was born March 1844 in MO to David James Morrow and Loucinda Young. It is not known where she died. Her first husband was Issac J. Chapman who was believed killed in the War Between the States. Her second husband was Benjamin George Myers who was born in 1841 in Castor, Stoddard Co, MO. He died about 1877 in Dallas Co, MO. They married on December 29, 1867 in Dallas Co, MO. Benjamin’s father was Peter Myers and his mother’s name is not known. His step-mother was Temperance Babb. His half sister, Temperance Myers married Sarah’s brother, Benjamine Franklin Morrow .

Salenia Morrow was born in 1850 probably in Dallas Co., MO. She was the daughter of David J. Morrow.

James David Morrow was born March 1, 1854 in Dallas or Henry County, MO to David James Morrow. He died May 14, 1935 in Dodge City, Ford, KS. He married Lucy Margaret McLeod on October 22, 1876 in Dallas Co., MO. Lucy was born February 26, 1858 in Jones, Iowa and died May 26, 1907 in Dallas Co, MO. She’s buried in the Liberty Cemetery. James married a second time to Susan Gott on March 4, 1908 in Polk Co., MO. She was born about 1873. Her death date is unknown but it is believed she died in Dodge City, Ford, KS. Their son David Dillon is found in the 1930 Ford Co., KS census living with his half-brother Charles Turner Morrow.
In a 1958 biography Myrtle Dove Lotten Jones (1-2-10) wrote:
"Little do I know of the Missouri Morrow family. There were Artie Morrow who married an Eddington (Dave); Dora Morrow who married Elias Wingo; Elizabeth Morrow who married a Dame; a John Morrow...who lived with Charles parents for some years; a Jim Morrow whose wife passed away leaving children John, Charles, Perry, Tommy and Annie. I knew Uncle Jim when he and his second wife, Susie Gott, lived north of Buffalo, after his children wee grown and Aunt Susie had quit teaching school. I met Annie and Tommy and Anna. Tommy was an Evangelistic preacher."

William was born in 1856 in Dallas Co., MO to David James Morrow. It is believed that in 1877 he married Margaret "Bess" Elizabeth Bennett b: October 15, 1860. There are no known children.

Lucinda Doryan Morrow was born about 1859 in Dallas County, MO to David James Morrow and died January 1908 in Dallas County, MO. She is buried in the Macedonia Cemetery in Dallas County. On December 24, 1876 in Dallas County she married Elias Wingo, b: October 24, 1876 in Dallas Co, MO d: March 1907 in Dallas Co, MO. Also buried in the Macedonia Cemetery. Their children were:
John Roland Morrow was born February 27, 1864 in Dallas Co, MO to David James Morrow and died June 23, 1932 in Big Spring, Howard, TX. He is buried in the New Olive Cemetery. His wife was Anna Scott. It is believed in 1882 John migrated from Missouri to Texas. Their children were:
John married a second time to Becky Steel in Greenville, Hunt Co., TX. They had one known child:
Malissa Jane 'Melisy' Morrow was born July 29, 1868 in Missouri to David James Morrow, and died in 1939 in Greenville, TX. On February 21, 1887 in Greenville, Hunt Co., TX, she married Edward Thomas Busby b: November 1, 1864 in Greenville, TX d: April 8, 1919 in Greenville, TX. Both are buried in the East Mound Cemetery.
It was believed by Lorea that Melisy and her nephew James Jones {son of Rachel Morrow (1-2)} traveled from Missouri to Texas by wagon. She lived with her brother Benjamine (1-4) until she married.
The only known child of Malissa and Edward was:
Bertha Bell Busby b: July 31, 1890 in Hamilton Co, TX d: June 10, 1966 in Wichita Falls TX. In 1905 married Eugene Jennings. In 1909 she married Homer Elvis Taylor b: June 19, 1889 in Tedwell TX.
