Please (POPHEART LIVE EP) Island Records U2 has long been known to use the "B-sides" of their singles to release treasures for their fans, and these two singles are no exception. The Please (Popheart Live) single contains four live tracks recorded on their recent Popmart world tour, and as any fan can tell you, U2 are at their best when they are live. Starting off Popheart is a great performance of Please, the song called the Sunday Bloody Sunday of the 1990's. Please segues into a rousing Where The Streets Have No Name, both recorded at the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam, Holland. Following Streets is With Or Without You recorded at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The final track is an acoustic version of Staring At The Sun, recorded once again at the Rotterdam show; this track alone makes the EP and is a good example of why these guys are so well known for their live performance.
If God Will Send His Angels Island Records The If God Will Send His Angels single contains three songs, along with the single version of If God Will. The first of the three, Slow Dancing, is a song written by U2 for Willie Nelson, and features the country performer on vocals. Two Shots Of Happy, One Shot Of Sad, the third track on the disc, was penned in hopes that Frank Sinatra would record it, but instead it was recorded by U2 for Sinatra's birthday (listen closely at the very end.) It is a soulful song, reminiscent of the smoky lounge singing for which "Ole Blue Eyes" was well known. Finally, the fourth track, is a live performance of Sunday Bloody Sunday, recorded at concert for Sarajevo and features, due to unfortunate circumstances, the Edge, rather than Bono, on vocals. |
