This quilt is a smaller version of a quilt called “Toyland” featured in the August 1998 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine. It was pieced and quilted completely by treadle. (The Penny Squares were hand embroidered.) I used my ca 1900 National Faultless treadle for most of the quilt, and then used my 1935-1938 Singer 15-88 treadle for the rest.
This quilt was irresistible to me, as it gave me a chance to include some embroidery into a traditional nine-patch style quilt reminiscent of the era of which my National treadle was a part.
