Mountain Camp '99
The Lake District - WASTWATER

The groups split themselves naturally by age; Alex, Nick, Oliver, Steven, Paul, Graham................

Yewbarrow was an interesting walk.
The younger group (nick named the Andrex puppies due to their inability to stay on their feet and their ability to bump into one another and topple over) walked up over the crags on the southern end while the older group tried to climb the screes to the north. This turned out to be such a tough route up that the older group had only just made it to the saddle when the others reached them.
Both groups did eventually make it back ~ thank you for leaving us in the car park while you sampled the contents of the Wasdale Head Inn drivers ~ having had a good, hot, afternoon walking.
We set off to the Youth Hostel, found our rooms and queued for the showers before dinner.
The daily routine was breakfast, walk all day, wash up for dinner then route planning followed by cards, table tennis, darts or pool, oh, and winding the YHA staff up by paying for sweets in pennies! All good clean fun.

..and then Duncan, Tom, Chris and Ben. Age difference between groups about 1 1/2 years, should have represented the speed, physical and mental capacity of the two groups but this wasn't always evident.
