No...., yes......
No, I do not have a life most of the time.
People see my wheelchair and walker.
They don’t think of inviting me to the parties that every one goes to.
They don’t even notice me any more.
They use to see my walker when they would pass me in the school halls.
No, I don’t need help opening the door.
I just need some one to talk to.
No, I am not gay.
I am just very shy around people that seem like social gods.
I am just trying to make some friends.
No, My parents don’t have to stay with me if we go to the mall.
I am just as independent as you are.
I am a big girl, I can take care of myself.
No, I don’t need to go to the hospital just because I tripped.
I am not as fragile as you think I am.
I play wheelchair basketball, and soccer, bounce on a trampoline, and swim.
No, I am not a poser.
I am just trying to draw your attention away from my disability,
and to the real me.
No, Don’t you dare try to push me around.
Just because I have a hard time walking,
don’t mean I can’t stick up for myself.
Yes, I can still swear, smoke, drink, get busted even though I am in a wheelchair.
Don’t lie to me and tell me you never get in trouble,
I listen to you when you talk to your friends.
Yes, I can slow dance.
You don’t have to worry, I will not crumble if I stand.
Yes, I am human!!!!
