Gatorade Kicks-Off Be-A-Mia Fan Web Pages

CHICAGO, June 25, 1999-- Fueling the momentum around the women's world championship soccer tournament, Gatorade is giving soccer fans ``More Mia'' (Hamm) by launching a new feature at www.gatorade.com called Be-A-Mia Fan. These specially designed Web pages celebrate women's U.S. Soccer Team forward Mia Hamm, the world's all-time leading scorer in women's soccer and one of the most recognized players in the international arena.

``There's been such an incredible response to the Michael vs. Mia spot that Gatorade wanted to give Mia fans an inside look at the making of the commercial,'' said Tom Fox, vice president of Sports Marketing for Gatorade. ``It's great to see the level of support the public has given Mia and the US Team.''

Through July 10, Gatorade's Web site will enable soccer fans to:

  • Download the Michael vs. Mia commercial and view ``behind-the-scenes'' footage of Mia with Michael Jordan cut to the music of ``Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better.''
  • Send MiaMail -- a cyber message wishing Mia and the team good luck. Gatorade will collect and print the messages and deliver them to Mia as the tournament culminates around the finals at the Rose Bowl.
  • Check out Mia's tips for young soccer players.
