The records show that William Bratcher, also borne as W. P. Bratcher, private, Company A, 10th Regiment Texas Calvary (Locke's Regiment), Confederate States Army, enlisted September 25, 1862, at Quitman, also shown as February 1, 1862 at Camp McKnight.  Muster roll for September and October, 1863, Shows him present.  His name is not borne on one subsequent muster roll dated April 5, 1864, last roll on file.  Other records show that he was discharged November 12,1863, at Meredian, Mississippi, on account of disability from Chronic Inflammation of the liver.
