VORLON EMPIRE:
-Heavy Cruiser-
This ship is often referred to as the "Mother Ship." In actuality, there are
several of these ships in the Vorlon fleet. It is the most powerful ship of
the Vorlon empire, and can fight toe to toe with a shadow battle crab. The
primary weapons are 4 very heavy beam weapons, that are more powerful than
even the Minbari Neutron Cannon. These four beams, can combine together to
form one very powerful "mega" beam that is nearly as powerful as the shadow's
beam.
Note: The combining beam located in the primary square is not a regular beam
weapon! It can only be fired when combining the four beams together. There
are only four beam weapons on the ship, not five.
If a weapon is destroyed or inoperable, damage is controlled by the following chart:
1 weapon destroyed.............1/2 damage
2 weapons destroyed............1/4 damage
3 weapons destroyed............Normal damage for a single shot from one beam
weapon.
Vorlon ships operate on the same organic principles that shadow ships do.
Therefor, they can regenerate just like a shadow ship can.
Vorlon ships possess energy shields, but only in the front arc between the tenticles.
These shields have an efficiency rating, and a maximum absorption rating. The
efficiency rating is the percent of the damage applied that is absorbed by the
shields, and the maximum absorption is the maximum damage the shield can
absorb per turn. Shields are automatically regenerated at the end of the turn. The
efficiency rating is a function of the number of remaining tenticles, similar to the
main beam weapon:
1 tenticle destroyed.................3/4 shield strength
2 tenticles destroyed................1/2 shield strength
3 tenticles destroyed................1/4 shield strength
All tenticles destroyed.............No shields
The shields cannot be used during the same turn as the main beam. Also, if you
use the shields, you must wait the complete recharge time of the main beam
in order to use the main beam. If the main beam is ready to fire, and
it is decided that a shield is needed, the shields can be immediatly activated. However,
you must wait the full recharge time for the main beam to charge it again. However,
if the main beam is charged, and it is deemed necessary, 50% of the weapon energy
can be transfered to the shields. In this instance, the shields are reduced in percent by 2/3,
and the maximum absorption is reduced by 1/2. However, the immediate next turn, the main
beam may fire, but at 1/2 power.
Vorlons use jump points and jump engines just as the lesser races do (after
all, all of the "younger races" are USING Vorlon jump engines). However,
since the ships do not use power as we know it, the engines can be used
without allocated power.
Vorlon ships also possess the ability to learn, just like a shadow ship. Up
to 10 levels.
-Light Cruiser-
The light cruiser also possesses a unique ability. The main beam can "hold" an enemy vessel.
In this case, the target ship can be immobilized for up to 2 turns (it can rotate and fire, but not
move) and the light cruiser immediatly gains initiative over that ship on the following turn. This
gives it the ability to "ram" the opposing ship. When the light cruiser rams an opposing ship, it only
takes 20% of the applied damage, and the opposing ship takes the full brunt of the ram.
(This is taken from "Interludes and Examinations" when a Vorlon Light Cruiser rammed a Shadow
Vessel).
All Vorlon material has been submitted by Mathew Lukacs.
