Captain's log - Earth Orbit
Our first full day aboard the Europa passed uneventfully. Her crew
and passengers are slowly beginning to get used to life here. As much as I've
flown in the past, there's nothing like this vessel.
I told Doctor Neff as much yesterday - his NSAI is like nothing
I've ever seen before. He seemed reluctant to take full credit, but was happy
we were getting along. All of Earth is following our progress, and for as long
as we can transmit images and sound in realtime, we'll be more or less
consistently interviewed about the status of our ship and those aboard her.
After that, hopefully, things will calm down. We have
approximately three months before we reach the Interdiction, and I intend to
use that time to get everyone used to their voyage. It'll be the longest ever
taken.
I have faith in this vessel. The worst that could happen would be
that our attempt to circumvent the Interdiction would fail, and we would be
forced to one of our own planets.
Likely, however, that won't be the case. If the Doctor's
projections are correct, the Interdiction wouldn't even be a minor
distraction.
With luck, the Europa will be the first vessel to exit the solar
system.
