"When all began, there were the Creators,
and the Void. The Creators worked to maintain the universe, and the
Void worked to tear it asunder. For aeons, the forces did battle,
and slowly, the Creators began to lose. Though they had great power,
it was divided between maintaining the worlds, and fighting away the advances
of the Void. It was a battle the Creators could not win. The
universe began to crumble, stars and worlds becoming feed for the emptiness
that spread throughout. Though the Creators tried, they were surely
to be defeated.
"When they contacted our world with a plea for
help, the Ancients answered them. The Creators turned their full
ability against the void, while the Ancients carried out the plan that
the Creators had made for them. The full power of the Creators' fury
was enough to stop the advances of the void, and for a time, even press
it back. But the Creators grew exhausted from battle, and the Void
enroached once more. Our star was taken, and the Creators began to
place their own life into our world so that we would not perish.
So weakened, however, they could not defend themselves, and the Void began
to take our planet as well.
"It was then that the Ancient's creation - The
Spire itself - came into being. Radiating power, life, and energy,
it was anathema to the Void and its agents. Rallying around the new
defense, the Creators fortified our area of the world, and we have been
safe from the Void ever after.
"The Spire cannot last. Its power is derived
from the Creators themselves, but the eyes of the Creators are fixed upon
the Void they are battling, and so they do not see the Spire's energy wane.
When this happens, our world begins to die, and the Creators must be called
to.
"It is then that the pilgrimage must be undertaken."
