Daniel goes into exile. The first chapter is introductory and answers the questions: who, what, where, when, and why? It is about how Daniel arrives in Babylon what happens to him, and how his faith is tested.

Things To Think About:

1. Read and think about these three verses in chapter one: 1:2; 1:9; 1: 17. What do they have in common? What do they tell us about Daniel's circumstances? What comfort do these verses give us in times of trouble?

2. Read the chapter and list the ways the Chaldeans sought to change Daniel. List four or five ways.

3. Which ones on your list did Daniel resist and why?
