BEST FRIEND

What is a best friend?
Wait and see,
I'll tell you what
One means to me.

True friends can come
In many shapes and sizes
Be it male or female
I welcome surprises!

A true friend is there
To help me see
Like extra eyes,
I think you'd agree?

A friend will walk
In front as we go,
To spot any dangers
And let me know.

A true friend walks
Behind, at my rear
To protect my back
If dangers come near.


They walk to my right
On an equal ground
A true friend you see
Is so special and all around!

And what does a true friend
Ask me in return
For their friendship
And love and true concern?


A true friend ask nothing
In turn for their love,
Blessed by the lord
That smiles from above.


But I always give them
Right from the start,
The same kind of friendship
And straight from the heart.

Friendship is much more
Than the one up the street,
Many are real people 
That you'll never meet.

But however you find them
Across the street or the miles
They're yours for all time, 
And bring you sweet smiles.








FRIENDS I
Sometimes we meet someone
That makes a 
different impression
On us than most
 other people do.
They enter our lives 
and later our
Heart and seem 
to know us as
Well or maybe better
 than even ourselves.
 
I think of these 
special people as friends
They are here for me 
when I need someone
To hear me when I am 
alone or sad or just
In need of someone to talk to.
 
I call these people friend 
because they do not
Make bitter judgements
 against me when I
Make a mistake or say 
something wrong or
Would have been better
 left unsaid.
 
I call them friend because 
they never leave
My side when things start
to go wrong.
Instead they cling harder 
to me and try
 To' make the going easier 
for me.
 
I call them friend because 
whenever THEY need
Something I am here for
 them also.
I hear them. Feel them,
sense their needs
In the same way they do mine.
 
I call them friend because 
in all eternity
They will remain beside me.
They will walk with me 
forever and if
Needed they would give 
me their life.
 
I thank God daily for these 
special friends.
There are not many in a 
lifetime and I
Value them more that all
 the material riches
On the face of the earth.
 
I thank THEM daily for being 
here for me,
And I let them know in little 
ways how much
I love them and cherish this 
thing that I call
TRUE FRIENDSHIP

TO A FRIEND III
Though the miles come between us 
And the times are passing fast 
We have a friendship 
That will forever last. . 
You are always in my thoughts, 
my  heart,
 and I wonder how you are, 
As we travel different ways 
So near and yet so far. 
The future plans and goals 
to come 
No one knows them yet, 
But I do know one thing 
GOOD friends do NOT forget. 
So Please, remember always 
That these things can never end 
The heartfelt, deep meaning 
of the words "TRUE FRIEND."
