THE ROAD HOME
Some times as we walk along
The long, long road of life,
We discover things that we
Do not know or understand.

Usually we are able to learn
And continue down the road,
Making adjustments as we go,
Each meeting its own demand.

Sometimes though we travel
Down the road to a point
Where we come to a detour
And must decide the path to take.

These decisions are difficult,
For the roads are unknown,
The paths not yet taken,
Which decision to make.

I have traveled this road
And learned many things,

I found myself inside and out
And somehow touched my soul.

I have reached an old destination,
On this, my road of life,
I will stop here and enjoy this,
For it is making me whole.

For no one is an island,
No one can live alone,
No one can live without someone
And I can not live without you.

So please, won’t you take my hand
Walk with me forever
Love me with your heart
Down this long road of life?

Trust me forever to be here
When you awaken,
To hold you close when you are lonely
And be a good wife to you?
