For those of you who do not know why I would consider this party special enough to add it to my web page each year, I will give you a little background about our neighborhood.

First off we are in Lawrence, Massachusetts.  Lawrence itself is a strugling town with a proud history for many years followed by some more recent dark times, of which we are recovering from.  Our neighborhood      has about every nationality within it's tiny area. For the most part we all got along really well.  But my wife and I, and another couple decided we wanted our neighbors to be our friends also.  Thus in 1997 the idea of a neighborhood block party was born.  We picked the last  weekend in July because it gives us something to look forward to between the 4th of July and Labor Day weekends.  Our party is one huge success  because of the fact that the WHOLE neighborhood gets involved.  This  includes the cleaning up of the streets the night before and day after the party, the donation of equipment, games, and money, and all the wonderfull FOOD prepared by everyone.  This party has allowed us to go from just a plain ordinary neighborhood to what I personally believe is the best  neighborhood in Lawrence, or anywhere else.
We are a neighborhood of friends!!!      We invite our closest friends, the City Council, local Police, and Fire Department.  As you will see by the pictures, we had a lot going on, and lots of fun.  Who knows, maybe you will want to start a Neighborhood Block Party of your own.
