Well, no school for a bit, and I have a little time, so here goes a few paragraphs. Let me tell you folks, by the way, that the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) course is difficult. But, if you ever are thinking of going into the computer field, that is the place make money. The Systems Engineers basically maintain networks for all sorts of companies, and there is a HUGE shortage of them. A great job for a young person. Heck, a great job for this retired guy, although I plan to work part-time at it. Enough of the the job sermon.
Let me say that I have a lot of pix of Kurt in his early years, and when I get them back from MTV, I will post a couple of them after scanning. I think that enough time has passed, and that it won't Kurt's dignity to post a couple. Looking like at least Spring before I get them back.
Kurt spent the Xmas of 1980 at my Dad's and stepmom's house in Montesano. Well, I mean to say he didn't STAY there, just came with Don and Jen. He was an absolute showoff. I remember he had us all laughing a lot. Seemed like a pretty good Christmas for Kurt He had his picture taken with my stepbrother's two girls, Amy and Michelle, and he was making this weird face (hmmm....didn't know Kurt ever made weird faces, did you?) because he had to stand next to Amy. Amy had a crush on Kurt, and he looked like he was ready to puke. She was about a year younger than Kurt. I will send that picture in for a scan and post on here, as it is really showing Kurt's discomfort and disgust that he actually had to stand next to THAT girl! Even in all his disgust, he still had that GREAT look in his eyes. Very intelligent and sort of dreamy, you know what I mean? I would assume that many of you picked up on that characteristic of Kurt. He always had that look for the period I knew him, and I certainly saw the same look when seeing him on TV or whatever. Always gave me goosebumps to see him, even at the great old age of 25, still with that look!
Kurt would look pretty hard at a pretty girl, until he realized that she would know it. Then, he would sort of "melt away". I think that he didn't have any real problem with the fact that it was a girl...it seemed more like it was because the attention was turned around toward HIM. Sort of parallels his thinking about notoriety and attention from the media. He was the same way then. I do remember more than once him looking at some girl walking away and "fanning" his face like he was all "heated up"! Hehe. One time when Cathy Moreland (this girl a couple houses down from my sis, she was about 17 and a flirt) came swishing by Kurt in a tight and short skirt, he walked behind her for a few yards, wiggling his butt like she was. He turned around and looked at me and my son and just had this big grin, like he was so damn funny.
Gotta go. Be back with some more, if you want. I know that these might be rather insignificant things about Kurt, but I am trying to give you an accurate picture.
