Friends

You think they're my friends but you are wrong

for they are only mere shadows that will soon be gone.

The faces you see will share my glee

but if sadness prevails they will leave me.

They remain by my side and are forever true

if the clouds remain hidden and the skies always blue.

I share their glees and all their woes

but it's only my happiness that they know.

The are not my friends, for I know no friends.

Friends are a fantasy, alive 'til the end.

The shall not die, they'll live forever

in the minds of fools who forget them, never.

It is not just me there are others too

who see that friends are not "true blue".

Friends exist yet they are not there,

they live only in thoughts and words of care.

But these thoughts and words aren't always seen.

That's when friends are something mean.

You think you're my friend but you don't understand

it's not me you love but my caressing hand.

The hand that soothes your worries and calms your fears

that weeps with you then dries your tears.

You think they're my friends but you are wrong -

they are just mere shadows that will soon be gone.
