Don Juan, together with A Feast During the Plague and Mozart and Salieri, were parts of the CrossRoads, the first Russian-Austrian "joint-venture" on the musical field. The project was dedicated to Year of Mozart.

Pushkin new Mozart´s "Don Giovanni"; the scene where Leporello invites Cammander´s Statue to stay on watch comes textually close to Da Ponte´s libretto - which in its turn borrowed a lot from Moliere´s comedy.
