College graffiti was only possible
due to…

As Ramar thundered down the
CIT hostel floor, there's no one who dared question his might. What everyone
revered or feared or loathed was his forthrightness and matter of fact
tone. But behind that mask of stern haughtiness, he was every girl's dream
and must have broken a million hearts. Unfortunately, I have missed being
at the receiving end of his verbal assault during my entire CIT tenure
- not that I wasn't close to him or played any mischief. But we were pretty
thick most of the time in college & after. Still the Wipro Dude, he
is thundering down the CISCO hallway in San Jose - FUNTIME!!!

Gulji! Rightfully, each of
us belonged in a mental asylum, but no sanitarium could have borne with
us… for a moment. The man is made up of undiscovered compounds of humor,
extreme insanity & wit. DNA analysis could open new avenues for research,
and movies like Gattaca will whimper from naiveness. He was my best bet,
whether I was depressed or felt wacky. Gul is now in Siemens, Bangalore
but appears to have repressed much of hair-tearing antics to himself. If
there's one guy I desperately long to see, it's him. After all, how long
do you think, I can hold my own sanity intact without a breakdown?

The epitome of calmness, there
was never anyone as cool as him, whatever be the situation - come storm
or the messiah. He was revered by everyone in college & topped his
class - all the time. Like so many others, I was in awe of him and must
be very lucky to have him as my roomie. Ramki graduated from his everyday
table-tennis & gym exercises to flying solo on a Cessna & can wield
a clean 8-iron 130 yds on a golf course - all in the cool air of Calgary,
Canada. He never ceases to amaze.

GRK! From his usual jogging
routine on Race-course road and raunchy pin-pong ball, he has graduated
to sky-diving and playing squash in California. Even Einstein could not
comprehend how he balanced his GPA stable at a near 4.0 in college, when
all that everyone noticed was his skimming through Ludlums & Wodehouses
in the classroom. Behind the façade, the man is full of grit and
did better than most of his contemporaries and is now churning out SDRAMs
at Intel. Of course whenever he is not into chips, he sweats out with squash
& free-falling
from the sky.

Biscoot! Despite his nasty
stubble which he so often tries to force on people, he was undeniably cute
(I'm forced to say this, as anything else might be very nasty). He made
Technical Symposiums conducted anywhere in his vicinity as a source of
pocket-money (never managed to lose however hard the judges tried to boot
him) and must be the single entity in the entire universe to offer an explanation
to "anything that happens or not happens". But all this was only a front
for him to single-mindedly drive forward to what he wanted to do most -
excel. One of the brains to watch for.
Sundaram. K.M.
Yamaha & Sundaram are synonymous.
Forget Las Vegas for joyrides or Grand Prix for break-neck action. Ride
on the pillion of Sundaram's Yamaha. The whole Coimbatore was agog at Senor
Sundaram's bike riding skills - now he's sporting a Ford Explorer in San
Francisco wooing eighteen year old dames. His lunch-box saved me the day
at college, and can never forget his Mom's culinary skills & especially
the spell-binding, most tasteful "Vaththa Kolambu". A cool guy to be with
- and of course to drive around with.

When in college I truly believed he was the true form of Howard Roark (anyone who has read Ayn Rand would know it all), but now I was wrong… he is one step ahead. It was very unlikely that I became so close to him, but admire, I do tremendously. He has a penchant for books (serious stuff) and most of all, is an excellent critic - no one else can hit the nail as he does. The most talented person, I have ever met, he understood things, many can never comprehend in a lifetime. He has very strong opinions and I still don't know whether he realizes the genius he is. All IIMs bowed before him soon after college, and choose did he, the Ace of them all. After a short stint at Ramco Systems, he is in Bangalore with Think Systems and apparently doing some international roaming. Oh! Is it him I see atop the Eiffel - POETIC JUSTICE!

Tirupur Iyer is a symbol of
undying enthusiasm. There is never a moment of silence with him, and he
can deluge you with his fountain… no… flood of energy and offer an opinion
of why Jesus was ever born… to why Starr teamed up with Linda Tripp. Nothing
confounds him, and no one can ever dislike him - what am I saying??? -
he is a GREAT dude. I can't stop raving about him - HONEST.

Kaavaa - the music club secretary,
basketball team captain, ardent rotary member, never misses the Sunday
Mass, dug a couple of technical symposiums - there's always more than 24
hours in a day to him. Though I have not been close to him in college,
I was one of those amazed by his astounding energy and now we happen to
stay together near Washington DC. Vinod works for Mil3 Inc. - a millennium
three dude.
