the story
mr. self destruct is the newest incarnation on matt lazarus, who was formally known as the "madman."  here is how it goes:  matt was just a high school kid, who enjoyed the sport of wrestling.  so, he started up nassau hardcore wrestling, in hopes of being like his heroes. (like lucifer and the eew crew.) so, he adopted the moniker "madman" and wrestled with some moderate success.  even when he joined extremely extreme wrestling, he did realatively well.  (even holding the television title for a week.)  however, the constant beatings, the betrayal by his comrades (now the stretch world order) and constantly being "screwed" (in his mind at least) actually drove the "madman" litteraly mad!  now he is a broken shell of what he used to be, and is bent on destructing not only his opponents, but himself as well.  he no longer talks, and is accompianied to the ring by the mysterious "clarisse."  who knows what he is upto, probably not even him.   but it is obvious that he is back, with a vengence, and ready to make a name for himself, and take it to a new level.
