This book will help anyone be their best in judo
I trained for several years, and spent most of them on a plateau. This book helped me smash through that glass ceiling (or whatever it was) that held me back. Now, I am flawlessly executing complex moves I never thought I would be able to use. What I got from this book was one flash of insight after another. My only regret is the time I wasted BEFORE I latched onto Inokuma's powerful words. I am forever indebted to the author. My son is showing an interest in Judo. This will be his text.

This publication is highly informative!
Reading this book has been a truly enlightening experience. The basic principles of weight, balance and gravity are covered extensively. The end result being an in depth understanding of the art of Judo. I was left with a true understanding, and extreme appreciation for the sport. If you are a Judo player, or would like to be, this book is a must!!!
Judo Formal Techniques : A Complete Guide to Kodokan Randori No Kata

Order Judo Formal Techniques here
Customer Comments:Judo Formal Techniques covers Randori no Kata (both Nage no Kata and Katame no Kata), the basic techniques used in competition judo. The book provides detailed information on each of the techniques, including advice for both the attacker and defender. It also touches on the basic theories behind the techniques, competition etiquette, and the philosophies of the founder of judo (Jigoro Kano) and many of judo's proponents. Technique descriptions are heavily supported by a number of excellent photographs.

well-ordered, good pictures
I liked this book for these reasons:
* completely groups all throws as defined in the Go-Kyo
* the photos are good even for beginners, e.g. they show moves from different points of view
* covers 40 throws, ne-waza and even some katas
* does not try to analyze moves with vector-diagrams etc. as some other literature does
What I not liked:
* ne-waza covers only basic stuff, the book misses things e.g. "how to turn s.th."

Definetly the BEST book on the subject of Judo
This is definetly the bible of Judo. Written by the founder himself Dr. Jigoro Kano Shihan. I have read the book word for word five times since I have owned it, and learn something new each time. Being the head instructor for the Eastpointe Judo-Jujitsu Club in Eastpointe, Michigan I make it mandatory for my students to purchase the book.
