About the author. . . Rod Nichols was born
in the East Texas town of Nacodogches and grew up in the Piney Woods
area known as " The Big Thicket. " He began writing at an early age
sharing a love for reading and writing along with an interest in drawing
and painting, especially using the native flora and fauna in his work.
Later he attended The University of Southern Mississippi and The
University of Houston taking degrees in Speech Teacher Education
and Administration. He is currently a Dean of Instruction in the
Houston Independent School District. The combining of poetry with
art/images has been a natural progression. The computer has made
it possible to create and share his poetry in this unique way.
His poetry styles, forms, and themes are not restricted to any favored
one in particular, though he seems to have a recent affinity for 'Cowboy'
