  METAMORPHOSIS

I used to be afraid of death
which hovered with its potent sting.
I used to think of my last breath
with dread, for terror was its king.

I used to be afraid of life,
its meaning, such a mystery,
its varied roads of twists and strife
seemed only tragic history.

I used to be afraid of "men",
rejection seemed my enemy,
until I saw that all have sin
and all are groaning to be free.

I used to be afraid of Love,
afraid that Love could not love me
‘til Jesus reached from high above
enfolding me in liberty.

I used to be afraid of fear,
afraid that fear might swallow me
until my heart could clearly hear
that Christ has won the victory!

UPDATE: MAY 6TH, 2002

Hello!  Since I had a "Damascus Road" type experience back in the Spring of 2001 concerning my spiritual perception, God has shown and taught me many things.  First and foremost He has shown me that I was acting religious rather than walking in His Spirit.  There are many, many people in the churches who are bound by a religious spirit, just as the Pharisees were when Jesus spoke to them while He was on earth.  Basically, people with religious spirits are self-righteous and unteachable and they are blind -- they cannot see themselves as they truly are.  They feel they already know it all, making it impossible for God to reveal anything to their tightly closed minds.  They spend lots of energy condemning people for whom Christ died.  They are motivated by fear instead of love.  Yet the bible teaches us: 1 John 4:18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19  We love him, because he first loved us. 20  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?  21  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Before my revelation from the Holy Spirit, I had been wasting tons of time reading loads of material from various "discernment ministries" which mostly left my head spinning and my heart empty.  I knew something was wrong, but couldn't put my finger on it.  Then one night after praying I believe I heard the Lord speak this to my heart: "1 John 1:5  This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." His peace came over me in a flood that passes all my understanding.  I instantly knew that all our thoughts and works and striving are nothing but vanity.  God is sovereign over His universe and He is the God of all wisdom!  I was able to enter into His rest (see Hebrews 3:18).  I now feel led of His Spirit to use this web site for the edification of the saints and to lift up the name of Jesus Christ and the banner of His love so that all men may be drawn to Him.  Jesus said:  "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." John 12:32 I believe He will do what He has said He will do!  Do you?

    ~ Searching~

I searched for God in vales and hills
            and every lovely thing,
            in fields of splendid daffodils
            and fruit trees blossoming.

I searched for God in chapel halls
            and alters where we prayed,
in holy pictures hung on walls
            and where the children played.

I searched for God in poetry
and songs the righteous sing -
            and then I learned humility
            and searched the lowly things.

I hadn't thought to search for him
among the down and out -
the battered, torn ones, scarred by sin,
and bruised by fear and doubt.

Yet that is where the Master can
            extend his deepest Grace-
so now I seek in every man
            my Saviour's loving face!
