Louis Edward Sorell was born on December 29, 1883, in Cloud County, Kansas. He was baptised "Louis Edward Sorell" on January 6, 1894 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (the baptism was recorded in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde, Kansas.) His godparents may have been John and Emma La Fond. "Ned" grew up in Colfax County, according to the 1900 census.
Edward married Eveline Eva Patenaude on February 15, 1907 in the Catholic Church at Concordia. In addition to six stillborn children and one who died at birth, the couple had four daughters who survived to adulthood. Edward earned his living as a handyman, and he and Eveline were lifelong residents of Kansas.
It has been reported that, according to his father's obituary, Edward and Eveline lived in Dresseden, Kansas and that the Clay Center (Kansas) News ran a 100th birthday story on "Ned".
Edward died in 1984 in Oberlin, Clay County, Kansas at the ripe old age of 100. He and Eveline are both buried in Oberlin, Kansas.
