Moisens Souverain ("Frank Mohs") Sorrell was born on April 27, 1890, in St. Joseph, Kansas. He was baptised on May 4, 1890 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (the baptism was recorded in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clyde, Kansas.) His godparents were John and Emma LaFond, and the baptizing priest was Father Louie Mollier. He was baptised as Moisens Souverian Sorell. He grew up in Colfax Township, Cloud County, Kansas, and attended school through the 8th grade, and at some point began to sign his name as "Frank Mohs Sorrell".

After finishing the 8th grade, Frank left home to join his brother Mike in farming at Dysart, Iowa. There he met and married Cecelia Ferriter (b. 1890 in Fairfax, Iowa) on June 15, 1914 in Independence, Iowa in a Catholic ceremony in St. John's Catholic Church. John Julian Sorrell and Julia Ferriter were wedding witnesses, and Msgr. Garland performed the ceremony. Frank and Cecelia moved to Huxley, Alberta, Canada, where Cecelia had relatives and Frank could find land to farm. They had four children together. Frank became a naturalized Canadian citizen on March 28, 1925. Following the deaths of the two eldest children and the loss of their home to fire, Cecelia and the two surviving children returned to the United States to live with relatives. She divorced Frank in 1927 (recorded in Calgary/Huxley, Alberta, Canada and/or in Illinois), and Cecelia was granted custody of the children.

There is a family story that Frank became very angry at some point, and moved to Canada to be away from his family; this story, though, has him leaving the family farm at the age of 16.

Frank moved to Edmonton, Canada where he worked for the Canadian National Railway as a pipe fitter. On June 28, 1930 he married for the second time to Leona Marie Verville (b. September 23, 1908 in Pasco, Washington; d. January 12, 1960 of heart failure, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and buried in St. Joachim's Cemetery, Edmonton, in a marked grave), in a Catholic ceremony in St. Francis Church in Edmonton, Alberta. It is not clear how he was able to remarry in a Catholic ceremony. Frank and Leona had two daughters and adopted one son.

Frank bought a plot for 8 at Huxley Cemetery, Letts Township, Alberta, Canada.

Frank married for the third time in 1963 to Celina Bourgette (b. November 25, 1896 in Sherbrooke, Quebeque, Canada; d. ?, probably in Vegreville, Alberta; last name Johnson), in a third Catholic ceremony in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 1964, Frank is shown as living in Dysart, Iowa. The couple later moved to Vegreville, Alberta, Canada.

Frank died on December 27, 1971 in Vegreville, Alberta, Canada. His death was recorded in St. Martin's Catholic Church, Vegreville. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Vegreville. It isn't clear what became of the 8 plots in Huxley Cemetery.

Frank was the father of seven children: four by Cecelia, two by Leona, and one adopted with Leona.
