Rosana Mary Sorell was born on October 7, in Kansas on her parents homestead (St. Joseph, Cloud County, Kansas). She was baptised in St. Joseph's Catholic Church as Melanise Rosana Sorell on October 9, 1898 by Fr. Louis Mollier. Her godparents were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Paquette. French was her first language; she didn't speak English until grade school. She completed eight grades of school.
Rosana married Adelore Louis Alexander on August 12, 1919 in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Zurich, Kansas. (According to a notation on Rosana's baptismal certificate, Adelore's name was then spelled "Adelar Alexandre.") They rented farms throughout Nebraska (including Wakefield, Dixon County, Nebraska) and Missouri. She and Adelore did not teach French to their children; instead, they used it as a "secret language" when they wanted to say something privately.
After Adelore passed away on December 31, 1953, Rosana settled in Gallatin, Missouri. The settlement of Adelore's estate left Rosana with enough to buy a house in Gallatin, but very little more, and so she took in laundry to make ends meet.
Rosana was the mother of five children. She is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin, Missouri beside Adelore, beneath a common stone.
