Jack's Theorem
or Jack's Theorem and the Primal Thought
SCRIPT
DURING SET UP 3rd person pass out Jacks Theorem and the Primal Thought flyer.
SCENE Easel with large paper that will fold over and Jack's Theorem formula written an it. Plus blank space on to work formula. or two easels (for theorem and one for working). Two people.
Character number one: He = Jack the great math magician dressed in hat with black coat beard and cane and wearing glasses.
Number two: She = She the Great dressed in black as the assistant to Jack the great math magician
SOUND None at opening
LIGHTS Spot lighting He and She.
He standing near the outer- rim of a circular or- semi circle facing the audience.
She standing near the apex of a circular or semi circular stage with the easel or easels and a shaft for a pointer.
Lights on
HE "I am Jack the Great Math Magician" "This is my assistant She the Great" pointing toward She "Just She the Great" shrugging shoulders
SHE takes a bow
HE "I discovered Jack's theorem one night when I was trying to find a relationship between pi and Pythagoras golden section of 1.618 with an infinite number of decimals
SHE puts up The Golden Proportion poster over blank easel then starts uncurling pi poster.
HE "I had worked an it for about three hours straight with my calculator"
SHE do a three hold up three fingers or something
HE "And suddenly the number three appeared on my calculator."
SHE do a three fingers again
HE "I then quite excitedly back tracked my last few steps and realized that if you take any two positive numbers"
SHE do a plus sign twice
HE "and work them through the formula you will always get the answer three"
SHE do a three sign again
HE "So now I need a positive number from the audience.
Please raise your hand to give me a positive number"
If no participant take number from middle of pi.
HE points to an unknown person in the audience "Have I ever seen or talked to you before?"
SHE removes the golden section poster exposing a blank working area
AUDIENCE PARTICTPANT answers "No"
HE "Give me a positive number"
AUDIENCE PARTICIPANT answers "__________________________"
SHE writes the number an the easel
HE "Now we need another positive number"
SHE makes a plus sign/cross
HE points to an unknown person in the audience and ask this person "Have I ever seen or talked to you before?"
AUDIENCE PARTICIPANT answers "No"
HE: "Give us a positive number"
AUDIENCE PARTICIPANT answers "_________________________"
HE "Now she will work out the formula for us"
SHE works out the formula and records each step in its proper position on the blank paper.
SHE uses calculator to work out formula.
About one minute 30 seconds
MUSIC STARTS HERE
Voice of HE gets lower and is slightly above the volume of the music
SHE begins to ignore all math.
NOTE SHE WILL BE ALL VISUAL AND SPEAK NO WORDS
HE "The answer is 3 and will always be three. No mater how small or how large the number is"
SHE Starts yawning silently
HE "Few people know, because the system fails to tell you that the massive indoctronitation of math in public education is to prove to you on a subsconscious level that there is a god by the fact t hat the universe is ordered.
SHE yawns again
HE "Pi and the jGolden section are the two great stumbling blocks"
SHE yawns and starts moving
HE "Because they do not end up in whole numbers. They are forever fractions."
SHE Begining early fluttering of dance.
HE "This indicates that there is no god. Why? because he did not order the universe.
SHE flutters more
HE "These two numbers. Pi and The Golden section leave the universe quite disordered and unfinished. They are not absolutes and apparently never will be."
SHE Begins slow deliberate dancing.
HE "Jacks Theorem did bring pi and the Golden mean together to where they became absolutes.
SHE picks up speed.
HE "So exactly what does Jack's theorem measure. What is absollute in the universe?"
HE "It measures the acts. The acts of existence , the acts of doing. the acts of being. This is the truth - the absolute of the universe. The acts of existence as human beings."
MUSIC GETS LOUDER NOW
SHE STARTS DANCING.
