Holonovel--Page Two
The holosuite
Leiutenant Williams is in charge of training the new officers like
you. She begins a simulation of the Imperial's bridge and tells
you to take the tactical station. Her words are in blue.
The Imperial's tactical systems have
been replaced by Starfleet's experimental Pulsar Tactical System,
which was designed with the help of the Klingons after the Battle at Wolf
359 to be used against the Borg. The Pulsar Tactical System is very
different from weapons systems aboard other starships, so it is important
that you learn to operate the tactical panel.
You look at the simulation of the tactical
console. It looks like this:
The circle on the very left is for targeting.
You must tap this before you can fire any weapons. The green circle with
a red cross is for remodulating weapons and shields. This button will make
the weapons effective again for a short time, if the enemy has adapted
to the weapons. The small blue circle with a blue bar polarizes the shields,
which makes them more effective. However, many ships have polarized weapons,
and there may be a way to make polarized shields obsolete using polarized
weapons, although this way has not been discovered yet. Additionally, polarizing
the shields uses a large amount of power. Therefore, you may need to de-polarize
the shields sometimes. You may do so by tapping the small green circle
with the blue bar. The shields section allows you to raise or drop the
shields. The shields are used to protect the ship, but some things, like
beaming (using the transporter), cannot be done when the shields are up.
The rest of the buttons will cause weapons to fire when the buttons are
tapped.
These are the weapons we have :
-
Type X phasers--the best type of phasers
-
Photon Torpedoes--these are powerful
-
Quantum Torpedoes--the newest and most powerful
type of torpedo
-
Klingon Disruptor Cannon--This is an advanced
type of Klingon Weapon. It was based on standard Klingon Disruptor Cannons
and modified by Klingon and Federation scientists for maximum power.
Remember what I have taught you, Ensign!
After six hours of training, you return to
your quarters. You report to the bridge the next
day for duty.
