FIRST GENERATION

1. Unknown SOWDER was born WFT Est. 1700-1740. "Family Tradition" passed along by descendants of my ancestor John Maret Sowder who married Mary Hackley (Hackler?) says that Peter, Michael and David Sowder were brothers of German or Dutch heritage who came to what was then Lincoln County, Kentucky in the 1790s from Pennsylvania. This tradition also says that my ancestor John Sowder (who lived his life in Rockcastle County, Kentucky) was a son of Peter Sowder and Sarah "Sally" Lacefield/Lasswell. Another descendant says that Peter was born in Holland and came to Lincoln County from Pennsylvania with Henry Skaggs when he was 35 years old. Peter is buried in a field on a farm in Rockcastle County, and his son John "Jackie" Sowder is buried next to him.

Unknown SOWDER had the following children:
