This Indenture Made this twenty third day of January one thousand eight
hundred and five Between JOHN THOMPSON of the County of Hawkins and of
Tennessee of the one part and JONATHAN SOWDER and PETER SOWDER
of the County of Claiborne and State aforesaid of the other Witnesseth
That for and In consideration of the Sum of three hundred Dollars to him
the said THOMPSON in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
Hath Bargained and Sold and Set over all Right Title In trust property
Claim and Demand to and for three hundred acres of Land on a Branch of
big Mulberry Creek including the place where JACOB SOWDER now lives
Beginning to Wit at a Black Walnut then N 70 E 70 po: to two maples on
a Branch then no 320 po to a stake near the foot of Wallins Ridge then
West 160 poles to a stake then South 380 poles to a stake _______ (could
this be "state line"?) thence north 65 East 90 poles to the Beginning together
with all and singular the wood water Courses profits and commodities thereunto
belonging or appertaining to have and to hold the estate Right title and
Claim of him the said JOHN THOMPSON and his heirs and assigns forever unto
the said JONATHAN SOWDER and PETER SOWDER there heirs and assigns Will
Warrant and forever Defend the aforesaid Tract of Land from all persons
Lawfully Claiming or pretending to Claim under me the said THOMPSON as
Witness my hand and Seal this Day and Year above Written.

This indenture made this tenth day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirteen Jonathan Sowder of the County of Lee and State of Virginia of the one part and Thomas Vandventer of Claiborne County and State of Tennessee of the other part witnesseth that the said Jonathan Sowder for and in consideration of the ____ of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars to the said Sowder in hand paid by the said Vandventer one receipt where or is hereby acknowledged wherefore the said Sowder hath granted bargained and sold and by the presents doth bargain grant and sell unto the said Thomas Vandventer his heirs Executors and assigns one certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and ninety acres and (Most of the land description was unreadable; however, it looked like the property was on the state line of Tennessee and Virginia.)

Jno Thompson to Jacob Sowders ___ 20th Feb 1798
THIS INDENTURE, Made this 15th day of November
in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven between
John Thompson of the County of Hawkins and State of Tennessee of the one
part, and Jacob Sowders of the County and State aforesaid of the other
part,
WITNESSETH, That the said Jno Thompson
for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty dollars to him in hand paid
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, HATH, and by these presents
DOTH grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, and confirm unto the said Jacob
Sowders his heirs and assigns forever, a certain Tract of Parcel of LAND
containing fifty acres, be the same more or less lying and being in the
county of Hawkins in Gravelly Valley being a part of a 240 acre survey
of John Thompson and Beginning at a white oak and hickory saplin on his
upper line in a hollow running thence south thirty seven west forty poles
to two white oaks thence north sixty west eighteen poles to a black oak,
then north forty two west forty eight poles to a black oak thence north
twenty five west one hundred and six poles to a hickorey on the old line
one hundred and twenty pole to a stake then south one hundred and forty
five pole to the Beginning with all and singular the woods, waters, water-courses,
profits, commodities, hereditaments, and appurtenances whatsoever to the
said Tract of Land belonging or appertaining, and the reversion and reversions,
remainder and remainders, rents and issues thereof and all the estate,
right, title, interest, property claim, and demand of him the said Jno
Thompson his heirs, &c. of, in and to the same and every part and parcel
thereof either in law or equity; TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said fifty acres
of Land, with the appurtenances unto the said Jacob Sowders his heirs and
assigns FOREVER against the lawful title, claim and demand of all and every
person or persons whatsoever, SHALL and WILL WARRANT and FOREVER DEFEND
by these presents.

of Hawkins and State aforesaid of the other Part Witnesseth that for and
in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him the said Jacob
Sowders in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged sold and
conveyed unto John Thompson two hundred & fifty acres of land in Craters
Valley on the head waters of Crelley Branch and including major improvement
in the ___ So sid of Big Creek Knobs Beginning at a red oak a corner to
sd Thompsons Old Survey then No. 100 poles to a White Oak then with a Marked
C_____ line between sd Thompsons & Sowders to a Hick____ near the Top
of Big Creek Knobs then North 25 East 100 pols to a Black Gum near a Spring
then No. 45 East 200 pols to a stake then D South 80 Pols to a Dogwood
a corner of John Youngs then So 30 W 110 Pols to a Hickory then So. 30
East one hundred & ten pols to a chestnut Saplin on Crillers Old line
then So 40 West with Grilleys line to the Beginning Together with all watter,watters
watter courses proffits & commodities there unto belonging or appertaining
to have and to hold the aforesaid two hundred & fifty acres of land
be the same more or less unto the sd John Thompson his heirs and assigns
for ever will warrant & forever defend the aforesaid tract of land
from all persons lawfully claiming or pretending to claim under me the
said Jacob Sowders as witness my hand and seal this day above write
