Form: A large, spreading mat with upward curving branch tips
Leaves: Tiny, dark green, scale-like
Flowers and Fruit: Inconspicuous; produces abundant pollen

Water: Low to moderate; drought tolerant when established
Soil: Prefers well drained soil; root rot if soil is too wet

Prune: Thin and head back to shape; do not shear
Problems: Mites and aphids possible; twig borerMost popular Juniper. Can be boring if it's overused in a landscape. Be sure to include plants for color too. Can be used in beds and for a large-scale ground cover. Give it enough space when planting it near walkways so that you don't have to shear the edges. Brown tips, indicating twig borer, should be removed.
