1992 Chevy 350 TBI meets 1991 Toyota FJ-80 Land Cruiser !
After an exhaustive search for the proper donor vehicle I have stumbled across a suitable engine. This particular 350 is a mild custom rebuild that has only 8,000 miles on it according to machine shop records. It runs great and sounds like a brand new motor. It currently resides at Jesse Holguin's shop awaiting the Mark's Adapters kit to mate it up to the Toyota tranny.
The Mark's Kit has arrived and looks like the ticket at US$825 (price goes up July 1, 1999 though). The bell housing adapter is cast aluminum with machined mating surfaces. Curiously, the kit requires the use of a GM flywheel on the 350 (not the GM flexplate) AND the Toyota flexplate (still bolted to the Toyota torque converter) with a ~ 6" shaft extension in between. Seems like a lot of mass spinning, but it's their design. I guess we'll see what happens! I've included a list of the kit parts and a few pics below. The engine mounts are a separate item, but well worth the money (US$145).
