Issues of 1928-37

10P violet brown

Foundation of Asuncion Issue

This was printed by the Government Printing Works (Talleres de Valores ) by typography in a quantity of 10,000. It was issued on August 15, 1928.

A proof on thick glossy card in brown is known.

The only variety is a watermark, Indian Bond.

Hayes Decision Issue

10P gray-brown

Issued on November 20, 1928 in an unknown quantity. Printed by the Government Printing Works by typography.

Plate proofs on glossy card in 5 colors exist.

The only variety is the watermark Indian Bond.

10P red brown

Issued November 20, 1928 in an unknown quantity. Typographed by the Government Printing Works.

Only variety is the Indian Bond watermark.

Bogarin Issue

The 1.50P issued in lake, turquoise blue, and dull violet all appeared on August 15, 1930 in a quantity of 50,000 of each color.

Proofs - on glossy card in yellow-brown; on yellow paper in lake, bluegreen and purple. Also known of the latter in purple is a printed on both sides.

I am not aware of any varieties.

5c on 7c Provisional

The date of issue in 1930 is not known to me, nor is the quantity issued. The only variety I record is a double overprint.

Arms Issue

Sometime in the beginning of January (exact date unknown) a 10P brown stamp was issued. It as well as subsequent stamps in different colors were printed by typography at the Government Printing Works.

A proof on glossy card is reported in blue.

I am not aware of any varieties.

10P brown-red on blue

First reported in the 16 May 1931 issue of the IBJ.

The only variety I record is the watermarked Vencedor Bond one.

10P dark blue on pink

The earliest report of this color was in the 17 December 1932 issue of the IBJ.

The only variety is the watermarked ADBANCE one.

10P gray brown

First reported in the Stamp Lover issue of Aug-Sep 1936.

I know of no varieties,

Listed as being issued in 1937,, I have no information on this stamp.

10P blue

Issued on June 24, 1929 in an unknown quantity.

I record the following varieties: pair, imperf horizontally; pair, imperf vertically; Perf 11; perf 11, pair, imperf horizontally; perf 11, pair, imperf vertically; perf 11 x 12; imperf pair.

Gunboat Paraguay Issue

1.5P purple

Issued in 1931 in a quantity of 200,000. This was produced by the Government Printing Works by typography.The earliest report I have been able to find is the Stamp Lover issue of June 1931. Perhaps, like the airmail values it was issued on 15 April.

I record the following varieties: CAÑON RO; imperf pair (w/o gum); imperf pair with CAÑON RO.

San Bernardino Issue

1P light green

Gibbons states it was issued on Aug 22, 1931 while in the literature of the time most report the date as Aug 24. Can anyone confirm which is correct? This was typographed by the Government Printing Works.

A proof on glossy card in black is known.

I record the following varieties: circle with star at Upper Left incomplete (white flaw); Imperf pair (w/o gum); Imperf pair with circle at UL incomplete.

1932 New Year Issue

Two 1.50P stamps, one in lake and one in turquoise green were issued on 31 December 1931. Both wee typographed by the Government Printing Works. The quantity of the lake was 12,900and of the turquoise 13,950.

I do not know of any varieties of these stamps.

Chaco Issue

1.5P deep violet

Issued on August 25, 1932 and printed by typography by the Government Printing Works.

Proofs on glossy card in 5 colors are known.

No varieties are reported.

1.50 Rose (rose red)

Issued sometime in the beginning of May 1935 in an unknown quantity. It is typographed and was printed by the Government Printing Works.

I record the following varieties: pair, imperf horizontally; pair, imperf vertically; perf 11 1/2; perf 11; perf 11, pair imperf horizontally; perf 11, pair imperf vertically; perf 11 x 12, imperf pair.

1933 New Year Issue

There is a constant variety of the overprint which can be found on all values: "C" of CORREOS broken; small "L" in FELIZ.

50c on 4P ultramarine

Issued on 31 December 1932 in a quantity of 40,000.

1P on 8P red

Issued on 31 December 1932 in a quantity of 30,000.

1.5P on 12 P blue green

Issued 31 December 1932 in a quantity of 30,000.

2P on 16P dark violet

Issued on 31 December 1932 in a quantity of 30,000.

5P on 20P orange brown

Issued on 31 December 1932 in a quantity of 10,000.

Flag of the Race Issue

This issued was lithographed by La Colmena in Asuncion. The series was issued on October 10, 1933.

10c multicolored

400,000 issued and I know of one variety: Central cross has a flag.

20c multicolored

400,000 issued with one variety: Central cross has a flag.

50c multicolored

Issued in a quantity of 250,000. I note the following varieties: pair, imperf vertically; Maltese crosses omitted (perf 11 1/2).

1P multicolored

200,000 issued and no varieties reported.

1.50P multicolored

250,000 issued. The only variety reported is the Maltese crosses omitted (perf 11 1/2)

2P multicolored

75,000 issued with the only variety being: Maltese crosses omitted (perf 11 1/2).

A proof on paper in sepia and bluegreen has been recorded.

5P multicolored

30,000 issued and no varieties reported

10P multicolored

30,000 issued and no varieties.

Euchrist Congress

These stamps, 1P, 3P & 10P were issued sometime in August 1937 and were produced by the Government Printing Works. 300,000 of the 1P and 3P were issued and 150,000 of the 10P. I do not record any varieties or proofs or essays for this issue.

Arms of Asuncion Issue

A set of 5 stamps lithographed by the Government Printing Works were issued in August 1937.

50c violet and buff (perf 12)

500,000 issued with the following varieties: Perf 11 1/2; at Lower Left 0:50 instead of 0.50.

1P bistre & light green (perf 11 1/2)

200,000 without any known varieties issued.

3P red and light blue (perf 12)

600,000 issued with the following varieties: perf 11 1/2; perf 11 1/2, pair, imperf horizontally; perf 11.

10P carmine rose and buff (perf 11 1/2)

125,000 issued with the only reported variety being a perf 11.

20P blue and drab (perf 11 1/2)

100,000 issued and no varieties reported.
