COWBOYS WIN THEIR FIRST SUPER BOWL

The Cowboys played the Miami Dolphins in their second Super Bowl. This was the first Super Bowl by the new AFC Champions led by Don Shula. The Dolphins were an up and coming power in the NFL, but this year belonged to the Cowboys. Super Bowl VI was dominated by the Cowboys almost from the beginning.

Miami Dolphins running back Larry Csonka committed the first error, by committing a rare-fumble. Dallas recovered and opened a quick 3-0 lead. While the Cowboys shut-down Miami's powerful running game, Roger Staubach led a balanced attack to a touchdown in the second quarter with a pass from Staubach to Lance Alworth. A Miami field goal just gave Dallas 10-3 half-time lead. A position they were in a year earlier.

Upon receiving the second-half kickoff, Dallas drove the field and scored the touchdown they were unable to score the year before. This gave Dallas a comfrontable 17-3 lead and handed the ballgame to the defense and the Dallas running game. Dallas scored a late touchdown with a 7 yard pass from Staubach to Mike Ditka to make the final score 24-3. Dallas was finally World Champions.
